  • Newsletter Subscription: If you opt in to the monthly newsletter (either via the dashboard toggle or the newsletter capture form), we store your email address, optional name, the source of the sign-up, and the timestamp — solely to send you the newsletter and to honor your unsubscribe requests.

Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns via Google Analytics.
  • Technical Data: Browser type, device information, IP address, and cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and improve our AI-powered travel planning service
  • Remember your family profile and travel preferences
  • Generate personalized trip recommendations
  • Send trip-related transactional emails (pre-trip reminders, post-trip memory nudges, flight-delay alerts) if you keep those enabled — and, only if you explicitly opt in, send you our monthly newsletter
  • Analyze site usage to improve user experience
  • Respond to your feedback and support requests

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Service Providers:
    • Google (Authentication via OAuth)
    • Anthropic (AI trip planning via Claude API)
    • WeatherAPI.com (Weather forecasting)
    • Google Maps (Route planning)
    • MongoDB Atlas (Secure data storage)
    • Railway (Hosting infrastructure)
    • SendGrid (Transactional and newsletter email delivery)
  • Analytics: Google Analytics to understand how our service is used (you can opt out via cookie settings)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies for:

  • Essential Cookies: Authentication, session management (required for the service to work)

  • Your data is stored securely on MongoDB Atlas servers with encryption
  • We use HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
  • Access to personal data is restricted to necessary operations only
  • We retain your data as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide services

6. Email Communications

We send two independent types of email, each with its own consent and its own opt-out:

  • Trip lifecycle emails — sent automatically for a plan you've created (pre-trip reminders one week and one day before departure, post-trip memory nudges, and flight-delay alerts if you've added a flight number). Default: on for account holders. Turn off at any time via the "📬 Trip emails" toggle on your dashboard or the one-click unsubscribe link in any of these emails.
  • Monthly newsletter — one family-travel essay per month. Default: off. We only send this if you explicitly opt in, either via the "📰 Monthly newsletter" toggle on your dashboard or by submitting your email through a newsletter subscribe form on our site. Turn off at any time via the same toggle or the one-click unsubscribe link in every newsletter footer.

The two toggles are fully independent — turning one off does not affect the other. Both unsubscribes are honored immediately.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update or correct your information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt-Out: Decline analytics cookies or withdraw consent
  • Withdraw email consent: Opt out of the monthly newsletter, trip lifecycle emails, or both, at any time — from your dashboard toggles or the unsubscribe link in any email footer
  • Data Portability: Export your trip planning data

8. Children's Privacy

Famila.Travel is designed for families planning travel. While we help plan trips for children, our service is intended for use by adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

9. International Users

If you're accessing Famila.Travel from outside the United States, please be aware that your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
